Itsy Bitsy Spider
Kimberley Popoff
FIRST PLACE AWARD WINNER
Artist Statement:
Since 2020 and the arrival of COVID-19, I have tried to connect with nature, walking about the neighbourhood with my camera, noticing small things that I would have once passed by. This piece illustrates the connectedness and importance of spiders in our ecosystem; bees get all the glory, but the role of spiders is vital as well.

Smoker passing through light
Gabriel Chiarelli
SECOND PLACE AWARD WINNER
Artist Statement:
The smoker is frozen mid-step while passing through a bright sliver of sunlight between buildings. The shapes of the city create the light, and the shadow the man casts forms a symmetry that combines with the light to create a new shape, joining the two.

Skymind, Landbody
Teneshia Samuel
HONOURABLE MENTION AWARD WINNER
Artist Statement:
Laid within us is a cartography of consciousness awaiting our exploration and investigation. Textured by distance and depth, peaks and pits, valleys and height, the space of the mind is marked by light and dark and toned by gradations of grey. Our mobility is bound by the intention of the mind. It is our responsibility to choose our perspective from the stark realities before us and navigate the shadows in between negative and positive space. With open awareness, our journey is lit by mindful illumination.

Pine Needles After The Rain
Nathan Armstrong
PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARD WINNER
Artist Statement:
After the rain, I often found the water drops rolling down the pine needles on a nearby pine tree to be a very pretty sight. After a light rain one morning I was finally able to capture the sight. It was a beautiful spring morning and the sun was just peaking through the clouds, shining on the nearby pine tree. I love the contrast made by the shadows of the tree and the sun shining through the water droplets rolling down the pine needles.
